Oscar Bilt

Oscar Bilt – Water Softeners & Limescale Protection for Coffee Machines

Under Oscar Bilt, you will find water softeners from the Italian brand BILT for coffee machines and small hot beverage systems. BILT specializes in water filtration for coffee machines and produces its filter systems in Italy.

Our range features two systems: The Oscar series is placed directly into an open cold water tank. The Nical 900, on the other hand, is designed for coffee machines with a suction hose.

BILT Oscar Series – for open water tanks

BILT Oscar 60

The compact entry-level model in the Oscar series. Passive water softener with a capacity of approx. 240 liters at 9 °fH, 80 liters at 27 °fH, and 50 liters at 45 °fH.

BILT Oscar 90

More capacity for regular use: approx. 450 liters at 9 °fH, 150 liters at 27 °fH, and 90 liters at 45 °fH.

BILT Oscar 150

For higher water consumption: approx. 825 liters at 9 °fH, 275 liters at 27 °fH, and 165 liters at 45 °fH.

BILT Oscar 300

The largest Oscar variant in our range: approx. 1650 liters at 9 °fH, 550 liters at 27 °fH, and 330 liters at 45 °fH.

BILT Nical – for machines with a suction hose

BILT Nical 900

The Nical 900 is connected directly to the suction hose in the water tank. Depending on the water hardness, its capacity ranges from about 60 to 300 liters.

Oscar or Nical – which system do I need?

If your coffee machine has an open water tank from which it draws water directly, the Oscar series is the correct design. If the machine has a suction hose in the tank, the Nical 900 is designed for that purpose.

Why water softening for coffee machines?

Calcium and magnesium ions in the water can form limescale deposits when heated. These deposits can stress boilers, valves, and heat exchangers. A suitable water softener reduces the ions responsible for limescale formation in the inlet water.

Which size of the Oscar series is correct?

The choice depends primarily on water hardness and water consumption. The harder the water, the lower the treatable water volume. A larger Oscar model offers correspondingly more softening capacity.

BILT – Made in Italy

BILT is a brand of Plastech Italia. The filter systems are produced in Italy; the production site is located in Voghiera in the province of Ferrara.

Frequently asked questions about Oscar Bilt

How is a BILT Oscar used?

The Oscar is placed on the bottom of a clean cold water tank and works passively there. No power or hose connection is necessary.

How is the Nical 900 used?

The Nical 900 is connected to the suction hose in the tank. After installation, BILT recommends several empty dispenses until the outgoing water is completely clear again.

How long does a water softener last?

This depends on the model, water consumption, and water hardness. Therefore, the liter capacities specified by BILT are more informative than a flat time specification.

Are BILT Oscar and Nical descalers?

They are intended for limescale prevention through water softening. Existing limescale deposits in a machine are not removed by them.

Can I order Oscar Bilt in Switzerland?
