BILT Oscar 300 – passive water softener for coffee machines
The BILT Oscar 300 is a passive water softener for coffee machines and small hot beverage systems with an open cold water tank. It is placed directly on the bottom of the water tank and operates without electricity or additional connections.
The system uses the osmotic principle of saline solutions and a bacteriostatic ion-exchange resin to reduce calcium and magnesium ions, among others, from the water. This can significantly reduce the formation of limescale deposits in boilers and heat exchangers.

Softening capacity
The actual capacity depends on the water hardness. BILT provides the following guide values for the Oscar 300:

45 °fH / 25 °dH: approx. 330 liters
The harder the water, the lower the amount of water that can be treated. The water hardness at the location should therefore be taken into account when choosing and replacing the filter.
Application
- Remove the Oscar 300 from the packaging without damaging the filter casing.
- Place the water softener flat on the bottom of the clean cold water tank.
- Fill the tank with water and use the machine normally.
Important: The Oscar is intended for use in the cold water tank and not for installation in boilers or pressure lines.

How does the Oscar 300 work?
The resin reduces ions in the water that contribute to limescale formation. The system works passively while it is in the water tank.
How often does the water softener need to be replaced?
This primarily depends on water hardness and water consumption. The decisive factor is the respective softening capacity; for technical suitability, BILT also specifies a period of up to 12 months after installation.
Can I use it with a machine with an intake hose?
For machines where water is drawn via an intake hose, the BILT Nical 900 is the more suitable design.
